What I Wish I Knew Before Buying Hearing Aids

Buying hearing aids is a big investment—financially, emotionally, and practically. And unfortunately, many people go into the process without enough information to make the best decision.

So here’s what I wish someone had told me (and what I now tell everyone):

💸 Not all hearing aids are created equal.

Price doesn’t always equal quality. Some high-end models are packed with features you may never use. Others offer smart, simple solutions at a better value—if they match your needs.

🧾 Understand what’s included (and what’s not).

Ask:

  • Does the price include follow-ups and adjustments?

  • Are batteries, chargers, or cleaning tools included?

  • What’s the return policy?

🦻 Style matters—for your life, not just your ear.

You might think you want invisible aids… until you try to change a tiny battery with stiff fingers. Comfort, ease of use, and daily handling all matter more than appearance.

🧠 Your mindset matters more than your model.

The best hearing aid in the world won’t help if you don’t wear it consistently. It takes time, practice, and support. Be realistic, but stay hopeful.

That’s why I wrote The Hearing Aid Handbook. To help people make smarter, less stressful decisions before they spend thousands. To reduce regret. To increase success.

If the book helped you, please consider leaving a review on Amazon—it’s one of the most helpful things you can do for someone else on the same path.
